Night Guard/ Bruxism Guard
Bruxism is the term used to describe grinding or clenching of teeth not related to eating. It can go undetected since it is done while sleeping. It becomes noticed when the jaw muscles become sensitive or painful in the morning, when your dentist sees damage to the teeth or when your partner hears it at night.
Cause of tooth grinding may include; stress, reaction to pain, some sleep disorders or misaligned teeth, snoring or apnea. The problem can range from mild sensitivity to severe cases where teeth are fracturing along with major dental work.
Treatment can include a custom fit appliance that is worn at night or alternative treatment options that can be discussed with your dentist.
